VCK to give more responsibilities to women and youth

Thol, the founder of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, has taken an initiative that can be seen as a charity for youth and women. Thirumavalavan said on Sunday, January 4, 2025, that he aims to bring more women and youth into the party structure. He also announced the appointment of around 140 party officials for a three-year term.

He said the party received over 21,000 applications from candidates for party posts in all 234 party district units. Besides district secretaries, each district unit equivalent to an assembly constituency will also have office bearers within the district.

In his video message, Mr. Thirumavalavan said, “I have given more importance to youth. It is important to include young people in the party structure. We will consider people aged 45 and below as “young” and give them priority. Of the 234 people appointed to the party district management across Tamil Nadu, nearly 90 are young people.”

He added that the party could not properly appoint the required number of Non-Scheduled Caste members and women to party posts. “We must have appointed 23 women and 23 non-Dalits as district secretaries. We could appoint only 15 women and 17 non-Dalits, including Muslims, as district secretaries. However, we will appoint women and non-Dalits as district offices in all 234 district units. Apart from this, more than 450 women executives will be part of the party structure in the districts,” he said.
