Russell Wilson has gone from starting quarterback for the New York Giants to third overall just weeks into the 2025 season, leaving many questioning whether the 10-time Pro Bowler will decide to play next season.

Wilson, 37, doesn’t appear to be thinking over his decision. He wants to play in 2026

“I don’t bat an eyelid,” Wilson said. per SNY. “I know [what] I can do this. “I think I showed that in Dallas and I want to be able to do that again, be ready to rock ‘n’ roll, be as healthy as possible and be ready to play ball.”

Wilson signed a one-year, veteran-minimum deal with the Giants last offseason worth $10.5 million, which included tons of incentives if he played the full season.

That same offseason, the Giants drafted running back Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss in the first round, and he proved during training camp that he had NFL-ready kicks up the middle.

Yet then-head coach Brian Daboll remained steadfast in his decision to start Wilson despite Dart’s success. But after three games, in which the Giants went 0-3, a change was made.

Daboll took on the Darts at home against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4, and the rookie not only earned his first career win by defeating Justin Herbert and company, but also cemented himself as the team’s starter moving forward.

Even then Wilson remained positive, He said in post-training interviews that he understood the team’s direction and wanted to help Darts develop and grow in his new role.

In three starts for the Giants, Wilson threw three touchdowns and three interceptions for 831 yards, but all of those touchdowns came in Week 2’s overtime heartbreaker for New York. More than half of Wilson’s passing yards came in this game, and he scored 450 points in the 40-37 loss.

Wilson also said he tore his hamstring in the game against the Cowboys.

“I played this game, you know, I tore my hamstring in practice on Friday – the last practice game. And I had a Grade 2 (tear). I couldn’t tell anybody. Just because I knew the situation, I had to go and play, I had to play no matter what,” Wilson explained.

“I actually went to the Dallas Mavericks’ facility, practiced. And, you know, I just stayed quiet, tried to get treatment, and I knew I probably couldn’t run from the goal line to the 10-yard line if I wanted to, but I just feel like… I have to make this play.”
