Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said President Donald Trump was “in thrall to Lindsey Graham” following the U.S. operation in Venezuela, according to a recording made by lawmaker Acyn Torabi of MeidasTouch. Published on X
Paul said that after the first presidential debate in 2016, the Trump family told him they liked him and the “idea of not getting involved in foreign wars.”
“That’s something I liked about Donald Trump,” Paul said. “One of those things was, whenever I had concerns about something else, I would always come back and say, ‘Well, it’s the best we’ve got.’ It’s much better than Bush’s, who was war-mad and wanted to get involved in all these crazy wars abroad… ‘We’re going to make the world safe for democracy.’ I’ve never liked any of these. “I thought Trump was different, and that disappointed me, but he’s in thrall to Lindsey Graham.”

Paul has described Trump’s move to unilaterally dismiss Venezuelan Nicolás Maduro without seeking congressional approval for the attack was considered “condescending”.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, a hawkish Republican from South Carolina, strongly supported the president’s action.
“I’m Lindsey Graham. Lindsey Graham reached out to the president and stated – I saw a clip – there’s about 20 clips [Trump] He says he is not in favor of regime change and that regime change always goes wrong. “Somehow they convinced him that it was different in our hemisphere,” Paul told reporters Monday.
