YSRC Wants Immediate Restarting Of Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Works

-Anantapur: YSRC leaders from Rayalaseema on Tuesday demanded immediate resumption of the Rayalaseema Ropeway Irrigation Project, underlining that it is the responsibility of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to obtain environmental clearances for the project from the centre.

The leaders accused the CM of deliberately stopping the Rayalaseema ropeway irrigation works to undermine former AP chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Earlier, they visited the project site in Jupadu Bungala mandal on Tuesday.

YSRC leaders included Nandyal district president Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, Kurnool district president SV Mohan Reddy, former minister Sake Sailajanath, MLC’s Shivarami Reddy, P. Ramasubba Reddy and Kalpalatha Reddy, former MLAs Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy and Shilpa Ravichandra Kishore Reddy and Nandikotkur constituency coordinator Dara Sudheer.

They objected to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s statement in the state assembly that the Rayalaseema elevator works were stopped at his request. They demanded that in case of any such understanding, Chandrababu Naidu should make an immediate statement.

YSRC leaders pointed out that the Jagan Mohan Reddy government has completed around 85 per cent of the project. However, after the NDA alliance government took over, there was no progress on the project during the last 19 months when the TD-led coalition government was in power.

They argued that the ruling party cannot hide behind the excuse that environmental permits were not obtained. “They highlighted that Chandrababu Naidu could use his good relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to get the necessary permissions.

YSRC leaders said the truth was that AP Chief Minister used Telangana leaders to file a case in the National Green Tribunal blocking the project, fearing that otherwise the credit would go to Jagan Mohan Reddy.

They warned that if the Rayalaseema lift irrigation works were not restarted immediately, the YSRC would launch a mass movement along with farmers and farmer unions.
