Teenager ‘fell out back of ambulance’ onto busy motorway

A young girl was reportedly taken to hospital after falling out of the back of an ambulance on the M6.
The incident caused major delays after a section of the slip road into Lancashire was forced to close for nearly two hours.
Emergency services were called to the scene at junction 32, where the southbound M6 leads onto the M55, just after 5pm on Tuesday.
It is stated that the girl was taken to hospital, but she did not suffer any serious injuries.
Lancashire Police said: “At 5.17pm on Tuesday, January 6, we received a report that a young girl had fallen out of the back of an ambulance on the southbound M6 towards the M55.
“He was taken to hospital but thankfully he is not thought to have any serious injuries.
“The highway was briefly closed and has now fully reopened.”
Officers stated that the road was closed “due to a traffic collision” and advised drivers to find an alternative route due to the major disruption caused by the closure.
The road was reopened approximately 2 hours later at 19:00.
North West Ambulance Service said: “At 5.16pm yesterday evening, a female patient exited an ambulance traveling on the side road between the M6 and M55.
“The patient was treated at the scene for suspected minor injuries and taken to hospital. Thank goodness, no one else was injured.”
“We are working with Lancashire Police and wish the patient a speedy recovery.”
