Murderer who absconded from prison caught

A murderer and another prisoner who escaped from an open prison on New Year’s Eve were arrested.
Matthew Armstrong, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder in 2009, and Daniel Washbourne, who had previous convictions for violence, failed to return to HMP Leyhill in South Gloucestershire on January 1.
Armstrong was found and arrested near Henley-in-Arden railway station in Warwickshire at 12pm on Wednesday. Avon and Somerset Police said Washbourne was later arrested in Bristol city center at 1.30pm.
Armstrong was also arrested on suspicion of robbery after an incident in a village near Leyhill the night before he escaped.
