Mananchira-Vellimadukunnu road to be completed by February: Minister Mohammed Riyas

Minister of Tourism and Public Works Muhammad Riyas on Thursday, January 8, 2026, said that the widening of the Mananchira-Vellimadukunnu road could be completed by February 2026. Speaking to reporters in Kozhikode after inspecting the works, the Minister said that the road will be opened by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
According to Mr. Riyas, the road will be a great solution to ease traffic in Kozhikode city. “However, 12 other city roads will also be developed as design roads using the newly approved funding,” he added.
Referring to the ongoing infrastructure development projects in Kozhikode district, Riyas said that the National Highway (NH) expansion works can also be completed on time. “Efforts were on to address the alleged negligence of the contractors in expediting NH expansion works in Vadakara area,” he added.
Mr. Riyas said, “In addition to speedy construction, we have also attached great importance to the safe completion of the projects. People’s concerns regarding various unfinished works will be conveyed to the relevant authorities.” According to him, the completion of Cheruvannur flyover and Koyilandy ring road may also be completed on time.
Expressing confidence that he will win 110 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections, he said that all 13 constituencies in Kozhikode district will be held by the Left Democratic Front. He also claimed that there was no anti-government trend in Kerala.
