It was stated that the threatening message reached the official e-mail IDs of Rajnandgaon, Durg and Bilaspur district courts and the police were subsequently warned.
An email sent by an unidentified person threatening a suicide attack using RDX-based improvised explosive devices (IEDs) was received on the official email id of the Rajnandgaon court at 10.07 am. The sender also warned that judges had to be evacuated from the premises by 2.35 pm, a police official in Rajnandgaon said.
The official said that the Regional Director and the Chief of Police were immediately informed about taking the necessary security and protective measures.
He said that the Bomb Disposal Team and the dog team, as well as the police team, were immediately dispatched to the courthouse and the facility was evacuated.
“During the search, no suspicious object, bomb, explosive or any dangerous substance was found anywhere in the facility,” the official said.
Officials said that a similar threat was received on the official email IDs of Durg and Bilaspur district courts, after which the police in the relevant places took action and started a search.
They said an investigation is ongoing to find the source of the emails.
