NBA news: Timberwolves hold moment of silence for Renee Good

The Minnesota Timberwolves held a moment of silence for the woman who was shot and killed by an ICE agent during an immigration raid in Minneapolis earlier this week.

Renee Good, 37, was killed, according to the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Kristi NoemHe was driving a vehicle that agents ordered him to exit. Good refused and “attempted to run them over and crash them with his vehicle,” according to Noem.

“Our thoughts are with his family and everyone affected, and our hearts go out to our community as we hope for healing and unity during this difficult time,” the arena’s public address announcer said.

The scoreboard showed a photo of the vigil with the words “In memory of Renee Nicole Good.”

During the moment of silence, one fan shouted, “Go home, ICE.” “F— ICE” shouted another as the chants grew louder.

“As we all know, our community has suffered yet another unspeakable tragedy,” Timberwolves coach Chris Finch said before his team defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers. “We would like to extend our condolences, deepest wishes, prayers and thoughts to the families, loved ones and everyone else who has been greatly affected by what happened.”

The shooting further fueled protests around the Twin Cities amid a recent increase in ICE activity in the area as part of the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration.
