Rani Mukerji-starrer crime thriller preponed, Yash Raj Films unveil new release date and first poster
Yash Raj Films announced on January 10 that it has postponed the release date of its upcoming film Mardaani 3 to January 30, 2026. The trio of films starring Rani Mukerji in the lead role was initially scheduled to release on February 27. This is the third film in the crime thriller series, which started with Mardaani in 2014 and continued with its sequel Mardaani 2 in 2019.

Sharing the new release date and first poster of the highly anticipated film, Yash Raj Films wrote on their social media accounts: “He won’t stop until he saves them all! #RaniMukerji returns as the fearless cop Shivani Shivaji Roy in #Mardaani3. The rescue starts on January 30 in theaters near you.”
The makers envision this film as a bloody, violent conflict between the goodness of Shivani and the sinister evil forces as she embarks on an extraordinary race against the hunt for time to save the missing girls of the country. Last year, the 2023 legal drama Mrs. Rani, who won her first National Award for Best Actress for Chatterjee vs Norway, had earlier revealed that Mardaani 3 will be “dark, deadly and brutal”.
Mardaani is said to be the biggest female-led solo film in Indian cinema, which has been receiving love and appreciation for over 10 years. The blockbuster franchise, which is said to be India’s only female cop franchise, will once again see Rani Mukerji reprising her role as brave cop Shivani Shivaji Roy, who selflessly fights for justice, in its third installment.
While Mardaani deals with the brutal realities of human trafficking, Mardaani 2 delves into the chilling mind of a psychopathic serial rapist who dares to challenge the system. Mardaani 3 continues the series’ legacy of gripping, plot-driven storytelling, exploring the dark, brutal reality of our society.
The first episode was directed by master filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar, who passed away in 2023. The second part marked the directorial debut of Gopi Puthran. The upcoming film also marks the directorial debut of Abhiraj Minawala. Mardaani series is produced by Aditya Chopra under the direction of Yash Raj Films. Aditya Chopra is also married to Rani Mukerji.
