85% Population to be Covered Under Food Security Act
Haydarabad: Approximately 85 percent of the population of TaLangana will be covered by the Food Safety Law, the state government has approved the 2.89 lakh ration card from 14 July.
When the congress started to work in December 2023, the state had 89.95.282 cards covering 2,81,47,565 utilitarians. Between January 26th and May 23rd this year, the state government approved the new application 2.03,156. In addition, 15,18,783 applications were approved for the registration of extra members to the existing ration cards and brought 23,90,868 new members to the list of utilitors.
Between May 24 and June 6, the government approved 2,89,239 new cards by adding 9,10,349 people. During this period, 2.65.142 application was approved for the recording of additional members to existing ration cards and added to 4.17.160 members. These will be published on July 14th.
The Congress government has distributed 4,92,395 new ration cards since it came to power in total. In general, the number of ration cards reached 94,72,422 and provided benefits to 3.14.56.690 people. This constitutes 82 percent of all households and 85 percent of the population.
According to the findings of the caste census at the end of last year, the state has 1,15,71,457 households.
As of January 26, 2025, the government invited applications to include new ration cards and beneficiaries.
Speaking with Deccan Chronicle, Civil Services Minister N. Uttam Kumar Redy, the distribution of new ration cards will be held in a festive atmosphere throughout July 14, he said.
The authority said that the regulation of ration cards and the addition of members is a continuous process and that it will continue even after 14 July.
