Plane crash kills Colombian star Yeison Jiménez and five others just hours before scheduled concert as heartbroken fans pay tribute

A Colombian singer is among six people who died when the plane carrying him and his musicians crashed and burst into flames on their way to a concert last night.

‘Always humble, because what God gives to you, He can also take from you,’ Yeison Jimenez wrote in his final Instagram post before boarding the plane.

The light plane he was on crashed shortly after taking off from Paipa Airport in Colombia’s Tundama Province on Saturday after failing to gain altitude.

Spectators were heard shouting ‘The runway is ending’ as the plane reached the end of the runway before hitting the ground in a ball of flames.

The victims included the pilot, co-pilot and four passengers, including 34-year-old Jimenez, who has performed in many countries around the world.

Their photographer, Weisman Mora, who posted the last touching video they took while on the plane just before takeoff, was also named as one of the victims.

The plane was heading towards the city of Medellin, near the town of Marinilla, where Yeison was to give a concert.

Colombia’s Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement: ‘Unfortunately, following the arrival of emergency services and the National Police at the scene of the crash, all six people on board were confirmed dead.

It was understood that the plane belonged to the singer’s company, YJ Company SAS.

Camila Jimenez, one of Jimenez’s daughters, reacted to the tragedy last night by posting the following on her Instagram account: ‘I love you, dad.

‘You have no idea how sad it makes me to see your videos and you not being here.’

Fans paid tribute on social media last night.

One wrote: ‘May God glorify you. Rest in peace.

‘You were a great man, a great artist and a loving father. ‘I still can’t believe what happened.’
