UK pizza restaurant announces closure on January 18 – ‘the saddest news’ | UK | News

An Italian restaurant has left customers devastated by announcing it will close three years after opening. Fez in Prescot, Merseyside, confirmed on Friday that it will close its doors for good within a few days on January 18.

The restaurant, located on Eccleston Street, has become a popular venue with its pizza and pasta dishes, as well as salads, risotto and desserts, after opening in August 2023. This comes at a time when many businesses are retreating from the high street due to changing customer behaviour, higher business rates, rising national insurance contributions and a higher minimum wage. However, the restaurant did not confirm the reason for the closure in an Instagram statement on Friday.

The following statements were included in the post: “We have to share with sadness that Fez will open its doors to our customers for the last time on January 18th.

“It has been an incredible journey since we opened in August 2023, and we are incredibly grateful to the local community, from our friends, family and regulars to all our visiting customers who enjoy Fez and invest their hard-earned money in our business.”

They added that Prescot’s business owners were lucky to have “one of the closest-knit communities” and that it was a pleasure to work with them.

The restaurant confirmed: “From tomorrow, we will be open as usual until the last meal is served on Sunday, January 18. We look forward to seeing you over the next two weeks and more will be posted shortly. We will miss you all!”

The comments section was full of disappointed customers; one of them replied: “A heartbreaking, wonderful place with amazing staff. You will be missed so much. Devastated.”

The second added: “This is the saddest news; I wish the whole team good luck and love in the next chapters! We will be here before you close.”

The town, about half an hour’s drive from Liverpool, is currently undergoing regeneration. The shopping center is being completely refurbished after Knowsley Council bought Prescot Shopping Center in a £1.3 million deal in 2022.

Liverpool Echo He said the town had experienced “something of a renaissance in recent years” with the opening of the Shakespeare North Theater, which represents “just one part” of the Prescot Town Center Master Plan.
