Operations resume after flights diverted on airport radar system error | UK | News

Birmingham Airport diverted incoming flights due to a power outage affecting the radar system. The technical glitch that occurred in the early hours of Monday, January 12, caused only outbound flights to operate from the airport.
The problem with the National Air Traffic Service’s (NATS) radar field also caused significant delays. A few flights were diverted to East Midlands Airport and Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport. Mirror reported.
“Due to a technical issue with NATS’s radar serving Birmingham Airport, only outbound flights are currently operating with some delays,” a spokesman said.
“All incoming flights are currently suspended. We apologize to customers for the delay and are working closely with NATS to rectify the issue,” the spokesperson added.
