BJP supports move to officially rename Kerala as ‘Keralam’

The State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has extended its support to the move to officially change the name of the state from ‘Kerala’ to ‘Keralam’.
In a recent statement, BJP State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that the party will fully support all steps taken by the state government to officially maintain and protect the name and identity of ‘Keralam’, which is closely associated with the Malayalam language heritage of the state.
The Kerala Legislative Assembly, by a unanimous resolution on June 24, 2023, passed a resolution proposing a constitutional amendment to change the name of the state from ‘Kerala’ to ‘Kerala’. The decision was presented by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
