Day 5 of Raja Saab box office collection

Fantasy horror comedy The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas and directed by Maruthi, was released in theaters on January 9, ahead of Sankranthi 2026 festivities. The film, which has a huge budget of around Rs 400 million, was expected to perform well at the box office considering Prabhas’ huge stardom and its pan-India release in the original Telugu language and dubbed versions in Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil. It opened strongly with a nett of Rs 62.90 crore in India and a worldwide gross of Rs 100.60 crore, but its box office has since declined due to poor reviews and negative word of mouth.

Raja Saab clocked net earnings of Rs 108 crore in India in its three-day opening weekend. The film fell to single digits on its first Monday and collected Rs 6.60 billion. The film fell further on its first Tuesday, as initial estimates from entertainment streaming portal Sacnilk suggested that the film managed to earn Rs 4.85 billion on its fifth day of release. Raja Saab is set to be the next biggest flop in Prabhas’ career after Radhe Shyam and Adipurush as its five-day net domestic earnings across all languages in India have touched nearly Rs 120 billion. The Telugu superstar now hopes to bounce back with Fauzi and Spirit.

The Maruthi directorial faced harsh criticism for its dull script, illogical storytelling, cringe-worthy dialogues and uninspired direction. Viewers particularly criticized the film for failing to strike a balance between humor and horror, with many branding it one of the most disappointing cinematic experiences in recent times starring Prabhas. After initial negative reviews, the producers went a step further and added extra scenes from the second day of the film, but this move failed to attract audiences back to theatres.

Along with Prabhas, The Raja Saab also stars Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar and Zarina Wahab in important roles. It is bankrolled by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad and Ishan Saksena under the banners People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment. The horror comedy was originally scheduled to be released on April 10 and December 5 last year, but was postponed due to multiple delays in post-production and VFX work.
