ACT Greens push for permanent waste incineration ban in Canberra | The Canberra Times

French multinational waste management company Veolia has proposed a $600 million waste-to-energy furnace near Tarago, about 50 kilometers north-east of Canberra, capable of diverting 380,000 tonnes a year from landfill. The company said the facility will generate electricity for approximately 40,000 homes.
