Royal fans issue major complaint about Meghan Markle’s £13 bookmark | Royal | News

The limited-edition item was made in collaboration with a New Forest-based workshop and features the words “I Fell Asleep Here” in Meghan’s handwriting in gold. But fans weren’t impressed that the Duchess didn’t come up with her own message for the bookmark and instead used the other company’s message.

Another account exclaimed: “No wonder she plagiarized a striped bookmark.”

A third person commented: “WOW! Second hand embarrassment.”

The last one said: “Why does he think scribbles are what people want? I just don’t understand. The handwriting isn’t beautiful or elegant. And what does it have to do with bookmarks as usual?”

But others defended the Duchess and said the message was the same as the one for which she partnered with the company.

One user wrote: “Yes, this was a collaboration so call them if you’re that stubborn and find out how many have been created. But limited edition means limited edition. Designed to create excitement for small businesses in the UK.”

The second added: “He partnered with them. They’re idiots.”

A third said: “You guys are boiling with jealousy while Meghan is focused.”

The bookmark, which sold out within minutes of its launch on Tuesday, is said to be made using “sustainably sourced leather” and is described as “a souvenir designed for those who want to linger, pause and return.”

The product description reads: “Made from supple black leather and finished with gold lettering in Meghan’s handwriting, it sits neatly between the pages to mark exactly where you left off.

“This limited edition piece is designed to last – a small, thoughtful detail that will stay with you for years to come.”

The bookmarks were made in collaboration with Sbri, described in a newsletter from As Ever as “a small, UK-based, women-owned atelier specializing in handcrafted, made-to-order keepsakes.”

Also launched on Tuesday was the “One Minute to Relax Set”, which costs $64 (£47.50) and includes a bookmark, honeycombed sage honey and herbal mint tea.

The set is described on the company’s website as “a carefully selected trio designed for quiet moments at home.” The website said the product is “Meghan’s take on starting the new year off right,” under a section titled “why you’ll love it.”
