State Cabinet leases land to K.M. Mani Foundation amid speculations of KC(M) leaving LDF

Although speculations are rife about Kerala Congress (M) [KC(M)] Turning to the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) ahead of the Assembly elections, the State Cabinet on Wednesday decided to lease land to KM Mani Foundation to set up a memorial institute in the name of the founding president of the KC(M). According to the cabinet decision, 25 cents of land located at Kowdiar in Thiruvananthapuram will be leased for 30 years to the trust for setting up KM Mani Memorial Institute of Social Transformation at ₹ 100 for 1 person.
Earlier in the day, KC(M) leader Jose K. Mani had dismissed speculations that the party had left the Left Democratic Front (LDF). He also criticized the media for “creating misleading narratives” and dismissed reports of unofficial meetings with senior Congress leaders.
The cabinet also decided to lease 1,139 acres of land in Thalassery for the establishment of Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Study and Research Center in memory of the former State Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). [CPI(M)]. The land will be rented to Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Memorial Academy of Social Sciences for ₹ 100 for 1 person.
