Single lottery player scoops £13.3 million in ‘must-be-won’ jackpot draw

A single ticket holder has secured a life-changing £13.3 million jackpot in Wednesday’s National Lottery “must-win” jackpot.

The National Lottery confirmed that the lucky player successfully matched all six main numbers to claim the jackpot.

The winning numbers were 2, 5, 22, 35, 44 and 54, while the bonus number was 23.

Andy Carter, senior winners advisor at National Lottery operator Allwyn, said: “Just what we love to see is a big Lotto winner to get the new year off to a flying start by winning our ‘Must-Win’ Lotto jackpot.

“A single player hit the £13.3 million jackpot in tonight’s draw and kick-started 2026 in style – imagine if you could start filling in your new year’s to-do list with this win.

“If you played please check your tickets and get in touch if you think you are a big winner.”

He added: “Playing any National Lottery game is about much more than a chance to win – it is about helping to make a real difference.

“Players raise around £32 million every week for life-changing projects in the UK.”

Two ticket holders won £1 million each by matching five numbers and the bonus ball, while the other 63 players won £1,750 each by matching five numbers.

In a must-win draw, if no ticket matches all six numbers, the jackpot prize will be rolled over to subsequent prize tiers to increase their value.

This means the jackpot for Saturday’s draw is now £3.8 million.

Meanwhile, no player won the £500,000 jackpot in the Thunderball draw but three ticket holders won £5,000 each by matching five numbers.

Thunderball draws were 16, 17, 22, 33, 39 and Thunderball 6.
