ASI Discovers Inscription on Leprosy Cure of Vijayanagara King Proudhadevaraya

Vijayawada: The Indian Archaeological Research (ASI) found an epigraphic reference to a miraculous treatment of Vijayaagara King Proudhadevaraya.

Describing the local legend of the king’s treatment, the inscription was engraved on both sides of a plate discovered in Nandullarevu in Nandullarevu in Jadapalli of Jadapalli of the Palnadu region. Sanskrit was written using Telugu scenario and Saka 1582, Sarvari, Magha, Shivaratri – Equivalent to 2 February 1661 on Saturday.

The inscription records a view of Dakshinamurthi from Ramagopalasraa student to Ramagopalasraa and Svarupakrishnasraaya’s great discipline on the banks of the Krishna River from Ramhuramasraya.

ASI Director (Epigraphy), “The presence of the inscription is historically important because it maintains the Sthalapurana of the place.” He said.

Maddineni, born in the village of Chamarru in Palnadu region, helped ASI to find the inscription.
