Stepfather expected to die after life support removal, prosecutors say

George Franklin Cole Jr., according to court records filed by prosecutors in Caddo County. He is on life support and is not expected to survive.

Cole, who is accused of multiple child abuse and sex crimes involving his stepson and another minor, was hospitalized on Jan. 12 following his first court appearance. Prosecutors say he tried to take his own life after returning to his prison cell.

He has been on life support ever since. District Attorney Jason Hicks wrote in a Jan. 16 court filing that doctors told him Cole was “brain dead and will never recover.”
“(Life) preservation measures will expire in the coming hours and (Cole) will be declared dead,” the application states.
Hicks’ application allows the Caddo County Sheriff’s Office to fire the hospital’s 24-hour security guard if he does not recover. The court accepted the request.
