9th day of Raja Saab box office collection
Fantasy horror comedy The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas and directed by Maruthi, was released in theaters on January 9, ahead of Pongal and Sankranti festivities. The film had a strong opening at the box office and grossed Rs 100.60 crore worldwide and Rs 62.90 crore nett in India on its first day; this includes Rs 9.15 crore from paid screenings on January 8. However, the Prabhas-starrer has struggled to maintain its momentum since its opening and has faced widespread criticism from audiences and critics alike for its confusing script, illogical narrative, awkward dialogues and lackluster direction.
Raja Saab collected Rs 133.75 crore nett at the Indian box office in its first eight days. The film shows no signs of improvement, even in its second weekend. On its second Saturday, the ninth day of its release, the Prabhas starrer earned only Rs 3 Million, down from Rs 3.5 Million on the previous Friday, according to Sacnilk. This decline indicates that the film was completely rejected by the audiences and now ranks among the biggest box office failures of Prabhas’ career along with Radhe Shyam, Saaho and Adipurush.
Raja Saab director Maruthi, at an event, blamed the audience for the film’s poor reception and said: “Audiences watch a film for nearly three hours on screen, but this is the culmination of almost three years of continuous effort, stress, learning and creative struggle. When such a work is so easily mocked or ignored, it hurts even if we choose to remain silent. Audiences watched Raja Saab in a festive mood, expecting light entertainment. This may have prevented them from fully engaging with the narrative.” deeper layers.”
Along with Prabhas, The Raja Saab also stars Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar and Zarina Wahab in important roles. It is bankrolled by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad and Ishan Saksena under the banners People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment. The horror comedy was originally scheduled to be released on April 10 and December 5 last year, but was postponed due to multiple delays in post-production and VFX work.
