Three persons arrested in Ranipet for possession of country-made explosives

Three people were arrested by Ratnagiri police near Ranipet’s Arcot town on Sunday for possession of village-made explosives.
Police said the arrested persons were identified as 29-year-old K. Prabhakaran, 30-year-old S. Karthik and 26-year-old V. Sudhakar. These people are residents of Amirthi village at the foothills of Jawadhu Hills in Vellore.
Initial investigation revealed that during a routine vehicle check, a police team stopped Prabhakaran, who was riding a two-wheeler along with the two-wheeler. Police said the trio was evasive about their travel purpose and also failed to produce valid documents for the vehicle. The team found 33 country-made explosives in the bag.
Police seized explosives and a two-wheeler. The trio told police that the explosives were used to hunt small wild animals near forest areas and also to prevent wild boars from damaging crops. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
