A UFO beamed cryptic messages into a US soldier’s mind… and they reveal a mysterious warning from the future

The Rendlesham Forest incident, one of the most famous UFO encounters in history, is attracting renewed attention following allegations that a US Army sergeant received encrypted binary messages linked to the incident.
Staff Sergeant Jim Penniston has long claimed that he was exposed to a strange code after coming face to face with a beached ship during the Rendlesham incident in England in 1980.
The entire binary code that Penniston claimed to have received consisted of 16 pages of ones and zeros and, when decoded, read: ‘DISCOVERY [OF] HUMANITY CONTINUES BEYOND 8100. EVOLUTION IS NOT OPTIONAL FOR SURVIVAL ON THE PLANET, THE GREAT AWAKENING APPROACHES CONSCIOUSNESS OR THE CHAIN MUST BE BREAKED
‘… WE RETURN TO WARN WHERE YOU WILL BE IF YOU CHOOSE THE PATH ORIGIN YEAR 8100 RETURN COORDINATES SEALED IN ANCIENT STONES TO PROGRESS OR DESTROY THE CHOICE IS NOW.’
The Rendlesham Forest incident occurred in December 1980 near RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge, twin air bases in Suffolk used by the US Air Force during the Cold War.
Penniston, a US Air Force security officer stationed at the base, said he approached the object and examined it from close range, describing the object as triangular and metallic, with a surface unlike any known aircraft.
He later recalled: ‘I estimated it was about 9 feet high and about 9 feet wide.
‘There was no landing gear visible but it appeared to be on fixed legs. I moved a little closer… I walked around the ship and finally walked towards it. I noticed that the texture of the shell was more like a smooth, opaque, black glass.’
How the incident was reported at that time
PC Brian Cresswell of Suffolk Police examines a beacon triangle with Captain Mike Verrano in Rendlesham Forest after dawn on the morning of 26 December 1980.
Often referred to as ‘England’s Roswell’, the incident remains one of the most documented and controversial UFO cases ever recorded.
At the time, numerous US military personnel reported seeing strange lights moving through the forest. Unlike most UFO sightings, witnesses did not describe a distant object in the sky; They said the ship had landed.
Several senior officers recorded their observations on audio tape, creating an official record that still exists today.
Another key witness, then-Deputy Base Commander Colonel Charles Halt, described the encounter in a memo that later became one of the most cited documents in UFO history.
“While in Rendlesham Forest, our security team observed a red light moving through the trees, resembling a large eye,” Halt wrote. ‘After a few minutes, what looked like molten metal began dripping from this object.’
The case gained further notoriety years later when Penniston claimed that the encounter did not end in the woods. Long after the incident, he said he received a stream of binary code somehow tied to the ship. Penniston produced 16 pages full of handwriting and zeroes, claiming that the information was conveyed to him mentally.
Believers say that when decoded, the binary text translates into English phrases such as ‘Discovery of Mankind’ and ‘Year of Origin 8100’, along with geographical coordinates pointing to ancient sites around the world.
Some interpret this as evidence that the occupants of the ship were not aliens but time travelers, possibly humans returning from the distant future to observe or warn their ancestors.
The location itself only deepened the mystery. According to Robert Hastings’ book UFOs and Nukes, RAF Bentwaters reportedly housed tactical nuclear weapons during the Cold War.

Do you believe these mysterious messages point to hidden government secrets or something beyond our world?

Hastings claimed that another unidentified vehicle was once seen above the base’s weapons storage area, fueling theories that UFOs may be attracted to nuclear technology.
But skeptics have offered much more mundane explanations. Some claim that the so-called landing spots in the forest are nothing more than rabbit holes, and that the flashing lights can be explained by nearby lighthouses or military activity.
Others have suggested that stress, darkness, and anticipation played a role in shaping what witnesses believed they saw.
Filmmaker Mark Christopher Lee said he came across a very similar incident while researching the site for his documentary.
Lee, who described himself as a skeptic with a science background, claimed to have visualized the binary code, which later evolved into an ominous warning about humanity’s survival.
The accounts reignited debate over whether the Rendlesham encounter involved extraterrestrials, time travelers or secret Cold War technology.
Lee, director of Britain’s Roswell 45 Years Later: Rendlesham, said he once shared these doubts, particularly about Penniston’s binary code claims. But that changed after he spent the night filming in Rendlesham Forest.
Official report from deputy base commander Charles Halt
He told the Daily Mail that during filming his team encountered unexplained electronic distortions and strange visual phenomena.
‘During the shoot we detected a strange electronic noise coming from the forest, the EMF reader we had was also peaking, there was definitely something in the forest interacting with us. We tried to find the source of the sound, but it kept changing direction. “We could also see flashing orbs of light,” he said.
Saying that he was cautious about paranormal claims, Lee said that he could not find a traditional explanation. ‘I’m always trying to disprove things because I have a science degree, but I couldn’t see a natural cause for this phenomenon we all experience,’ he said.
‘This has made me a firm believer in something strange that has happened in Rendlesham Forest since 1980 and is still happening.
‘Was this due to alleged secret weapons testing using EMP that may have opened a portal to other dimensions or time? It may sound crazy, but the only other alternative is that future people come back in a vehicle to give Pennington this apocalyptic warning?’
Lee believes the incident was not an extraterrestrial event but rather may be linked to secret Cold War experiments conducted in the region. He pointed to nearby sites such as Orford Ness and Martlesham Heath, known for radar and weapons research.
But Lee said the most disturbing moment came after filming ended. According to his account, he returned to his hotel exhausted and unable to sleep when an unexpected event occurred.
‘I came back after a long day of filming and was lying in bed unable to sleep and all I could see were ones and zeros in front of me. “At first I thought I was just tired, but I’ve never experienced anything like this before,” he said.
‘Also, we never covered Penniston Binary Code during the shooting days, so it wasn’t on my mind at all.’
Lee claimed that he wrote down the sequence he visualized and then had it translated into English, resulting in the same message the U.S. sergeant received.
