Moment ‘Amazon delivery driver scoops cat from doorstep’ | UK | News

A cat owner accused a delivery driver of brazenly turning up at her front door and taking her cat away.

Cat owner Carl Crowther spoke to Yorkshire Live about the incident and also shared doorbell footage.. In the video, a delivery driver is seen walking to the front door of his home in Elland, near Halifax, where he cradles a cat in his arms, turns around, and the cat defiantly walks along the road towards the street before allegedly being loaded into the delivery driver’s vehicle.

The delivery driver, who was working for Amazon at the time, “shined a light” on Carl’s cat Nora around 2.30pm on Sunday, January 18. Carl said he provided additional images and images to Amazon. West Yorkshire Police.

He told YorkshireLive: “As a family we were really worried as he always stayed so close to home. This morning I looked at the cameras to see if he had been around in the afternoon/evening for some reason as he had been missing since lunch yesterday. “We were devastated to see the driver lingering to take the opportunity.

“He was in complete shock and disbelief when he picked her up and pushed her into his car. This was also seen on my neighbor’s camera. The poor thing is on medication and has a heart murmur.”

Carl said Amazon offered him money, which “isn’t very good at this point.” A spokesperson for Amazon said that wasn’t the case and that Carl was instead referred to its insurance protocol. Amazon is investigating the incident and is in direct contact with Carl and the police. The delivery driver is not employed directly by Amazon but by a subsidiary.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police received a report that a cat had been stolen from outside a property in Park Avenue, Elland, at around 2.30pm on Monday, January 19. An offense of theft was recorded and investigations are ongoing.”

The Daily Express has contacted Amazon for further comment.
