Eternal, the online delivery company that operates Zomato and Blinkit, announced Wednesday that its founder Deepinder Goyal will step down as Chief Executive Officer and General Manager.
Blinkit CEO Albinder Singh Dhindsa becomes the new CEO of the company new CEO. Goyal will serve as vice president.
Goyal highlighted Dhindsa’s leadership in building the team, culture and supply chain at Blinkit.
Goyal stated that Blinkit remains the biggest growth opportunity and will remain Dhindsa’s top priority, adding, “He has the DNA of a battle-hardened founder, and his ability to execute far exceeds my own.”

educational background
Albinder Dhindsa received his BTech degree from IIT Delhi in 2004. He then moved to New York to attend Columbia Business School, where he completed his MBA between 2010 and 2012. During his time at Columbia, he specialized in strategy, leadership and finance and gained a vital global perspective. This blend of technical expertise and business acumen eventually paved the way for his career as an entrepreneur.
Professional track record
Dhindsa started his professional career in the United States before returning to India. Before stepping into e-commerce, he gained experience in finance and consultancy. He started as a Transportation Analyst at URS Corporation in 2005, then moved to Cambridge Systematics as a Senior Partner in 2007. In 2011, he deepened his understanding of international finance by working briefly as a Partner at UBS Investment Bank in New York.
He later returned to India in 2011 to serve as Head of International Operations at Zomato. In this role, he was at the center of the company’s global scaling efforts and gained first-hand experience leading a fast-growing technology enterprise.
Blinkit evolution
In May 2014, Dhindsa founded Grofers (now known as Blinkit) along with Saurabh Kumar. Initially launched as a local delivery provider, the service focused on fast delivery of daily essentials, which was an emerging concept in the Indian market at the time. Over a decade, Dhindsa has built the platform into a leader in the flash trading industry. The company reached an important milestone when it was acquired by Zomato in 2022.
Notable achievements
Dhindsa is known as the pioneer of fast commerce in India. Successfully managed the strategic transition from Grofers to Blinkit, transforming the business into a 10-minute grocery delivery model. This evolution defined a new e-commerce category in the region and established the industry standard for ultra-fast logistics.
Strategic financing
A key factor in Blinkit’s success was Dhindsa’s ability to provide significant capital. Sequoia Capital played a central role in raising more than $700 million for the startup from leading investors such as Tiger Global and SoftBank Vision Fund. These investments have been critical to fueling the platform’s technological advancements and aggressive national expansion.
