Police arrest 5 in Indiana judge shooting case investigation

Indiana police announced the arrest of five suspects in the shooting of an Indiana judge and his wife at their home earlier this week.
Raylen Ferguson, 38, and Zenada Greer, 61, both of Lexington, Ky., and Thomas Moss, 43, Blake Smith, 32, and Amanda Milsap, 45, of Lafayette, Ind., were taken into custody following the Jan. 18 attack on Tippecanoe County Judge Steven Meyer and his wife, Kimberly, the Lafayette Police Department said. Steven Meyer suffered an arm injury, while Kimberly Meyer suffered a hip injury. Police said they were both in stable condition.
Ferguson, Moss and Smith were arrested on charges including attempted murder, aggravated battery and intimidation with a deadly weapon, gang and firearms equipment. Police also listed Moss and Smith as “habitual criminals.”
Milsap was arrested on charges of bribery and obstruction of justice, while Greer was charged with aiding a criminal and obstructing justice.

“These arrests are the result of an extensive and collaborative effort between multiple agencies,” the Lafayette Police Department said. he said.
Sunday’s incident was the first recorded act of violence against a judge, according to the Lafayette Police Department. Authorities have no record of previous threats to Meyer or 911 calls made from the judge’s Mill Pond Lane address, a department spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital.

Audio recording obtained by Fox News Digital showed the unidentified gunman knocking on the door of Meyer’s home around 2:15 p.m. Sunday and then shooting through the door. According to the audio recordings, the suspect said, “We have your dog” before firing the gun.
“I am so grateful for the outpouring of support from friends, the community, court colleagues and law enforcement,” Judge Meyer said Wednesday, his first public statement since the shooting. “I want to express my sincere thanks to my medical team. I am receiving excellent care and I am recovering. Kim is also grateful for the support of the community and she is recovering, too.”

“I want the community to know that I have strong confidence in our judicial system,” the judge said. “This horrific violence will not shake my belief in the importance of resolving disputes peacefully. I am confident that we have the best judicial system in the world, and I am proud to be a part of it.”
