Police investigation after man falls to his death from Sydney apartment

A man died after falling from a high-rise apartment complex while police were responding to a domestic violence incident.

NSW Police declared the incident a critical incident.

Officers were called to the unit in Hamilton Road, Fairfield, in Sydney’s south-west, at around 2.10am on Saturday by a female resident who reported a domestic violence incident.

“Upon arrival, officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command found a 55-year-old man standing over the balcony railing of a seventh-floor unit,” the police statement said.

While the police officers standing on the street were talking to the man, another group of police officers moved towards the unit.

The man then fell from the balcony.
