Tributes paid to ‘best big brother’ who died in Greater Manchester car crash

The family of a teenager who died in a head-on accident in Manchester paid tribute to him, saying he “never managed to make anyone smile”.

Mohammad Danyaal Asghar-Ali, 19, died when the red Seat Leon in which he was a passenger collided with a Citroen C4 Picasso taxi on Wigan Road in Bolton in the early hours of Sunday, January 11.

3 more people died in the collision.

Greater Manchester Police have identified the driver and the other passenger who died in the seat as 18-year-old Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar and 18-year-old Farhan Patel.

It was learned that the driver of the killed taxi was 54-year-old Masrob Ali.

Mr Asghar-Ali’s mother said in a tribute delivered through police: “Danyaal was my heart, my soul, my everything. He was the one who taught me how to be a mother, my firstborn, my baby.”

“I can’t explain the emptiness she left inside me. I have to remind myself that I will never see her smile, I will never hear her laugh, I will never be able to hug her again.

“Danyaal was a very good child, he showed love and respect to everyone and never failed to make anyone smile.

“He was his father’s best friend and this tragedy left his father devastated.”

Danyaal’s sister said: “It is incredibly difficult to accept the fact that Danyaal is no longer here.

“The memories of the moments we shared, the laughter and his silly jokes, are so vivid it seems like it was just yesterday. He wasn’t just my brother; he was my best friend.”

“Danyaal had an incredible ability to make any room brighter the moment he walked in. His smile alone could change the atmosphere.

“He was always the best big brother, always there for me, never left my side when I felt lonely.”

Danyaal’s other sister said that he “left a positive mark wherever he went” and added that “when he walks in, even the dullest room will feel brighter.”

He said: “He was always joking and laughing, and somehow his laugh was funnier than the joke itself. His smile was my favourite.”

Danyaal’s brother said he was “the funniest person” and inspired him.

5 passengers in both vehicles were injured and were treated in hospital.

A 29-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries in the Citroen, while a 28-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man were also seriously injured. The young man named (29) was slightly injured.

An 18-year-old man, who was also a passenger in the seat, also suffered minor injuries.
