New office-bearers elected for Madras Bar Association

Advocates V. R. Kamalanathan and J. Pothiraj were elected as president and secretary of the Madras Bar Association (MBA), which was established in 1865, by the issuance of the Royal Proclamation, three years after the establishment of the Madras High Court in 1862.
According to the press release issued by Senior Advocate KK Senthilvelan, who has been appointed as the selection officer, advocates VT Balaji and D. Raja have been selected as the treasurer and librarian of the MBA.
Lawyers Muziz Ali, Y. Kavitha, G. Arulselvi, P. Elayarajkumar and V. Vasanthakumar were also elected as board members of the association. The newly elected officeholders met Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava of the Madras High Court, who wished them well.
