Real reason Royal Family are distancing themselves from Prince Harry | Royal | News

It’s been a big week for Prince Harry, who took the stand in the High Court case against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) and gave emotional evidence about how the publishers had affected his life. Overwhelmed with emotion, he told the court that ANL had “made my wife’s life a complete misery” and described the ordeal as “traumatic”, “horrible” and “fundamentally wrong” for prosecuting her and other plaintiffs when all they wanted was accountability.

He is one of seven high-profile people to sue the publisher over allegations of illegal doxxing. This is an incredibly personal case for the Duke of Sussex, who has made it his personal mission to hold the press to account. In his testimony last week, it was clear that Harry resented being born into an institution where he had to tow the family line to ‘never explain, never complain’ and felt unable to challenge what was said about him.

He now wants to take back control and highlight the mistreatment of him and his wife.

Meanwhile, it was business as usual for the rest of the Royal Family. With their heads down and their attention focused on their duties, senior royals have undertaken engagements across the UK in an attempt to distract from Harry’s latest drama.

This is a tried and tested approach used when the Sussexes are back on UK soil or causing a bad odor elsewhere. When it comes to Harry’s extensive trial, The Firm wants to stay as far away from the saga as possible; so this time there was no meeting between father and son.

Although the King was just three kilometers away when Harry took to the podium on Wednesday, the monarch quietly went about his duties before leaving the capital with little fanfare.

Reconciliation remains a hot topic, but little progress will be made as the Duke continues to wage war on the press and criticize the institution to which his family belongs. So what about the Royal Family’s decision to stay calm and carry on?

A masterful move, and frankly the only appropriate response to the situation in which they continue to find themselves.

Kate and William visit the National Curling Academy

Curling Queen

Fair play to the Prince and Princess of Wales, who didn’t hesitate to join the curling fray on Tuesday. Having never tried the sport before, the future king and queen took to the ice and saw with her own eyes how difficult it was to ‘throw stones’, as it is technically known. I have long admired this sport because of its resemblance to bowling balls and its harsh tactics, but even I was surprised by how difficult it seemed.

Using the footholds as springboards and gliding across the ice while focusing on releasing your piece with the perfect weight (which I might add is much heavier than around 20kg!) is a challenge, as the couple found out for themselves.

Catherine was apprehensive at first; This wasn’t surprising, considering we were standing just a few feet away from him with our cameras, ready to film and take photos.

However, this did not stop her from immediately asking for a second try and subsequently leaving her husband in a very difficult situation. What made the win even more impressive was that Team GB athletes wore long skirts and wore their hair down, a slight change from the uniform they will wear in Italy next month for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Queen Camilla loves Spice

While all eyes were on a different Spice Girl this week (where were you if you weren’t thinking of Brooklyn Beckham’s first dance…), the Queen was also accompanied by Ginger Spice on her visit to a cancer charity last week.

Geri Halliwell made a surprise appearance at Maggie’s Cheltenham, Gloucestershire headquarters on Wednesday, joining Camilla to meet people living with the disease and celebrate the 30th anniversary of the disease.

The Queen, who had met the singer before, gave Geri a warm hug when she arrived back, after which the pop star was filled with admiration for the royal.

“I’m a big fan of the Queen,” he said. “I think she’s amazing and stoic. I think she’s an amazing, amazing force of nature. She watched Maggie grow up and it taught us that we need each other.”

King’s premiere

There is very little time left until the release of the documentary about the King’s lifelong commitment to protecting the environment. The feature film will be available on Amazon Prime from February, with a lavish premiere at Windsor Castle on Wednesday ahead of the show’s release.

VIP guests will join the King and Queen and the film’s narrator, Kate Winslet, to watch Finding Harmony: A King’s Vision. The screening is held in the Waterloo Room, which is used for nomination ceremonies.

I’ll also be able to see a preview of the show, but it won’t be at the black tie event afterwards where guests will sip drinks and canapés in the Grand Reception Hall!

Andrew’s cat ban

Last week, an old rule affecting residents of Sandringham Estate ahead of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s move to Norfolk was revealed. All tenants living on rural land were prohibited from keeping cats; Queen Elizabeth II It appears to have been a rule that Elizabeth introduced over fears that domestic animals would prey on the chicks of game birds that breed on the 20,000-acre property.

Although Andrew is not known to have any pets, he looks after the late Queen’s beloved corgis, Sandy and Muick.

The disgraced former prince and his ex-wife adopted the dogs following the monarch’s death. It is not yet known which of the pair will keep them after Buckingham Palace confirmed they will stay with the family.

But luckily for Andrew, dogs are assessed on a case-by-case basis at Sandringham, and given everything he’s already lost, I can’t see the King saying no to Andrew keeping those royal canines.
