CPI(M)-AIKS march in Nashik to address agricultural and labour issues

After a four-day protest march in Palghar in which nearly 50,000 farmers and tribals participated, the long march of tribals started in Nashik on Sunday (January 25, 2026). More than 40,000 farmers and workers launched a massive protest march led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the All India Kisan Sabha.

The protest was led by CPI(M) Political Bureau member and AIKS National President Dr. Ashok Dhawale, former AIKS State President JP Gavit along with former CPI(M) Central Committee member and former MLA, CPI(M) Central Committee member, State Minister and AIKS National Joint Secretary Dr. It was directed by Ajit Nawale.

The march, led by CPI(M) and AIKS, touched on critical agricultural and labor issues. “The march raised issues related to neglect of numerous safeguards around the Forest Rights Act (FRA) and PESA, irrigation schemes, filling of thousands of vacancies in Zilla Parishad schools, etc,” the statement issued by CPI(M)-AIKS said.

“And the second set of issues centers around the pro-corporate policies of the BJP-led Central and State Governments like the smart meter scheme, undermining of MNREGA and rural employment, land grabbing by the government-corporate nexus, imposition of the four Labor Codes etc,” the CPI(M)-AIKS statement said.
