To improve healthcare in Vijayawada West, MLA Yalamanchili Satyanarayana (Sujana) Chowdary launched ‘Sujana Healthcare on Wheels’ on Sunday, January 25, which will deliver quality medical services at people’s doorsteps.
Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated two state-of-the-art mobile medical vans built under Sujana Foundation worth around 1.35 crore.
One of the minibuses has a doctor’s examination room, an examination room, a blood test laboratory and a pharmacy offering free medicines. Another minibus serves as a mobile diagnostic unit with advanced facilities such as X-ray, ECG and 2D Echo, providing early diagnosis and timely treatment.
The mobile units will organize regular medical camps in coordination with Urban Primary Health Centers (UPHCs). Patients requiring advanced care will be referred to Vijayawada Government General Hospital, Mangalagiri NRI Hospital and other reputable private hospitals. A special ‘coordinator on duty’ has also been appointed to assist patients during hospital visits.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu lauded the MLA’s welfare-oriented initiatives and emphasized the importance of preventive and participatory healthcare. He called on citizens to take full advantage of services and adopt healthy lifestyles. A large number of public representatives, NDA leaders and residents attended the programme.
Mr. Sujana Chowdary said many poor and middle-class families tend to neglect health problems due to financial constraints. He said the success of the earlier 45-day mega medical camp inspired him to institutionalize access to healthcare through this programme.
