Army-ITBP joint exercise to familiarise non-artillery personnel with artillery procedures

Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police conducted a joint training exercise at Sigar in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, enhancing inter-force combat synergy and operational integration.

Defense Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat said on Sunday that the intense six-day exercise Agni Pariksha was held from January 19 to 24 and focused on strengthening the partnership between the forces.

He said lead artillerymen of Spear Corps conducted the training along with personnel from infantry regiments and ITBP, making it the first cooperative firepower training initiative of its kind.

He added that the main purpose of the exercise was to inform non-artillery personnel on artillery procedures, coordination mechanisms and execution of fire missions.

During the training, infantry and ITBP personnel were systematically trained to independently conduct multiple artillery shooting exercises under the close supervision of experienced gunners.

The exercise aimed to break down traditional role silos and improve understanding of firepower integration in dynamic warfare scenarios by exposing non-artillery personnel to realistic artillery employment.
This approach significantly increases mutual trust, coordination and operational sensitivity among participating forces, the spokesman said.

This was the first phase of the exercise and is seen as a pioneering attempt to develop integrated warfare capabilities required for future battlefields.
