Extremely Proud Of Our Diaspora: PM Modi In Namibia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was proud of the Indian Diaspora in Namibia on Wednesday, and praised the efforts to protect Indian culture in the region and to encourage deeper ties between India and South African.
“The Indian community in Namibia is very optimistic about the friendship of the Indian-Namibia in Namibia, and this reflects the special welcome in Windhoek.
Prime Minister Modi came to Namibia in the early hours of the day as part of the result leg of his five -national tour. Hosea Kutako received a great traditional welcome at Hosea Kutako International Airport, welcomed by Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation.
Local musicians and dancers took the stage at the reception and suddenly applauded and cheered, the Prime Minister joined the artists, and reflecting the warmth for local traditions, he played Namibia drums.
This is the first visit of Prime Minister Modi to Namibia and the only third visit of the Indian Prime Minister to the country in the last 27 years.
“He recently landed to Windhoek. Namibia is a valuable and reliable African partner that we are trying to increase bilateral cooperation.”
During his visit, PM Modi is preparing to have bilateral meetings with Namibya President Netumbo nandiitwah.
Both leaders are expected to discuss expanding cooperation in various sectors, including energy, health, education, digital technology and development support.
The visit will also discuss a common session of PM Modi’s Namibian Parliament-an important moment in the diplomatic relations of India-Namibia.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA), India and Namibia historically shared India’s powerful ties based on the early support of Namibia’s independence movement. At an early date like 1946, India raised the issue of Namibia independence in the United Nations.
Before his trip, Prime Minister Modi called Namibia as a “reliable partner” in which India shared a common history of struggle against colonialism.
“I am looking forward to meeting with President He Dr. Netumbo Nandi-nandaitwah and I can’t wait to draw a new roadmap for the benefit of our peoples, regions and the wider global south. Also, we will celebrate our permanent solidarity and celebrate our commitment to share freedom and development.
The PM also said that his visits to five countries would strengthen India’s ties of friendship in the global South, strengthening the partnerships on both sides of the Atlantic, and deepening the interactions on multilateral platforms such as Bricks, African Union, Ecowas and Caricom.
