Republic Day 2026: India celebrated its 77th Republic Day on Monday with events and ceremonies across the country. Conveying his congratulations, US President Donald Trump stated that India and the US share a “historic bond”.
In the message published by the US Embassy in India on X (formerly Twitter), the two countries are described as the world’s oldest and largest democracies.
On behalf of the people of the United States of America, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the government and people of India as you celebrate your 77th Republic Day. The United States and India share a historic bond as the world’s oldest and largest democracies. -President Donald J. Trump,” the post read.

China conveyed its wishes to India
Chinese President Xi Jinping also expressed the pragmatic approach of both countries, prioritizing dialogue, confidence-building measures and regional interaction, while congratulating President Droupadi Murmu on India’s Republic Day.

Earlier in the day, the Chinese Ambassador also attended the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi.

Republic Day celebrations in India
As part of the 77th Republic Day celebrations on Monday, a cultural extravaganza was held along Kartavya Road in the heart of India’s capital, where around 2,500 artists performed a choreographed mixed dance performance to the tune of Vande Mataram.
The performance was a highlight of this year’s parade celebrating the 150th anniversary of the iconic national song.
