Drake Maye closes in on NFL immortality as Patriots beat Broncos

Drake Maye made NFL history and did something Tom Brady couldn’t do during his legendary career with the New England Patriots.

The second-year quarterback became the first quarterback to earn the road start in a conference championship game before his 24th birthday since Ben Roethlisberger accomplished the feat with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2005.

He joins Brady as the only quarterbacks in Patriots history to lead their team to a Super Bowl within their first two seasons in the NFL. New England and the San Francisco 49ers are the only teams with more than one quarterback in their first or second year to advance to the Super Bowl.
“I’m proud of this team, Maye said. “Don’t have many words. Just thankful for this team. Love each and every one of them. He took everyone.”
