Colourful Tableaux Draw Cheers At R-Day Parade

Vijayawada: Colorful paintings of various government departments attracted great attention during the 77th Republic Day celebrations held in Amaravati on Monday.
A painting depicting the completion of the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram took first place, followed by a painting depicting chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s plans for women’s welfare showcased by the society to eradicate rural poverty.
The table prepared by the Ministry of Industry with the theme of investments creating employment won the third prize.
Population management and human resource development, health and family welfare, medical education, women and child welfare, skill development corporation, school education, tourism, water resources, micro irrigation, forest, agriculture, fisheries, basic amenities and investments, CRDA, NEDCAP, handloom and jute, horticulture, Swachh Andhra Corporation, municipal administration, panchayat raj and rural development, RTGS etc. the painting carried the theme of the state’s commitment to public welfare.
Some paintings displaying traditional works were also the center of attention of the meeting.
Earlier in the day, Governor Justice Abdul Nazeer hoisted the national flag and addressed the gathering before the start of the Republic Day Parade. The parade was attended by troops from the Indian army, APSP second battalion from Kurnool, CRPF, Kerala state police, APSP 16th Battalion from Visakhapatnam, NCC boys and girls, boys and girls of AP welfare residential schools, Bharat Scouts and Guides (boys and girls) and Youth Red Cross.
The Indian army contingent won the first position, followed by the APSP 16th battalion won the second position and the Kerala state police contingent won the consolation prize.
Additionally, the performance of the marching band and pipe team fascinated the audience.
