There were no Australians left standing in the singles draw after Alex de Minaur lost to world No.1 Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals on Tuesday night.
In a contest filled with spectacular rallies, great shots and repeated pressure points, Alcaraz absorbed the best of the Australian star and then defeated him with a 7-5, 6-2, 6-1 victory, leading to a new clash with Alexander Zverev.

Although De Minaur said he was proud of reaching back-to-back Australian Open quarter-finals, he was disappointed with his play against the Spaniard.
“I would have loved to have given more out there tonight,” he said after the match.
Tuesday night’s defeat follows de Minaur’s consecutive defeat to Alcaraz rival Jannik Sinner last year.
