Ajit Pawar plane crash LIVE: Pawar’s funeral today in Baramati; Amit Shah to attend

On Wednesday evening, January 28, 2026, after the bodies of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar were brought in, roads in Baramati were packed with people as mourners thronged the streets to reach Vidya Pratishthan, the Pawars’ educational campus.

All shops were closed and police presence was strengthened as hundreds of vehicles passed through the road. A few kilometers away, police were deployed to the crash site near the Baramati airstrip to control the crowds that had thronged the area.

While ambulances and convoys were speeding past the airstrip, forensic teams entered the crash site to collect samples. Mr Pawar’s plane had crashed near a field, just meters from the runway. Witnesses said the impact was so strong that they heard several explosions in the morning.
