Inaayah Makda: Desperate search for missing British girl, 7, swept out to sea on holiday in Morocco
A British family is desperately searching for a seven-year-old girl who was swept into the sea in Morocco while on holiday with her family.
Inaayah Makda, from Blackburn, went missing in Casablanca on Wednesday night after a wave suddenly hit rocks and swept her into the ocean.
It was reported that other family members were also swept away by the wave but managed to get back to shore.
His father, Zubair Makda, is based in Blackburn UCTV It was learned that the family was on rocks half a meter high at that time. He said: “Inaayah was on the rock behind me. We drifted to the right, she drifted to the left. I didn’t see where Inaayah was before that, because she drifted so quickly.
“I never found him. We’re trying to get help.”
Blackburn MP Adnan Hussein, who spoke to Inaayah’s father and aunt, said he had urgently raised the issue with UK officials, including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Moroccan ambassador.
Mr. Huseyin told Independent: “This is an incredibly heartbreaking and deeply saddening situation. My thoughts are with them, Inaayah and everyone who loved and cared for her at this unimaginably difficult time for the family.”
“All of Blackburn keep Inaayah and her loved ones in their prayers. I will continue to do everything I can to support the family during this devastating time.”
A family member in England said: Lancashire Telegraph: “We’re all really worried. You can tell it’s really sad for everyone.”
They told the newspaper that their families had not been informed of any dangers of climbing the rocks and were taken by surprise when a large wave crashed down.
Inaayah’s parents remain in Casablanca, where they have reportedly turned to a private search operator to assist in their search.
An FCDO Spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British national reported missing in Morocco and are in contact with local authorities.”
Moroccan authorities were contacted Independent for comment.
