A Bangladeshi journalist claimed that some Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists had landed in Dhaka by plane from Pakistan. The journalist also shared some passports to verify his claims. Investigative reporter Sahidul Hasan Khokon claimed that Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-342, which took off from Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, landed at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 4:20 in the morning on January 30 with a total of 113 passengers.

According to their claims, many people on the ship were identified as members of Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT). He claims that their identities and organizational affiliations are clearly reflected in their passport details, which raises serious concerns about security weaknesses. Khokon argues that such entries indicate either gross negligence or deliberate surveillance by the ruling junta, highlighting alarming gaps in border control and passenger screening.

This comes amid reports that Pakistan could use Dhaka to launch a terror attack against India, especially following New Delhi’s stance that any terror attack from Islamabad would be considered an act of war.

A recently published report said that while Dhaka celebrates its newfound friendship with Islamabad, it must remain vigilant to prevent its territory from being used as a launching pad for terrorist activities against India.

A report in Eurasia Review noted that although the Pakistani army’s use of brute force during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War failed to stop secession and the subsequent creation of Bangladesh, Pakistan continued its efforts at “Islamization of the masses” to “ensure a strong religious bond with West Pakistan.”

The report emphasized that the current situation in Bangladesh makes it easier for radical Islamist groups to gain a foothold; this is a vulnerability that Pakistan has fully exploited. “There are strong indications that Rawalpindi is inciting anti-Hindu sentiments and organizing a constellation of terrorist organizations to target India. Therefore, New Delhi needs to not only be prepared for this possibility but also adopt a proactive stance against this threat.”

By allowing its territory to serve as a logistical and ideological base, Bangladesh risks becoming embroiled in Pakistan’s long-running conflict with India, a report in Bangladeshi weekly magazine ‘Blitz’ said on Tuesday.

Citing intelligence assessments, the report stated that under the direct operational coordination of Pakistan ISI’s “Dhaka Cell”, trained operatives from the so-called “stranded Pakistani” community in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) were systematically infiltrating Indian territory across the Indo-Bangladesh border.

“These individuals are reportedly tasked with carrying out subversive and destabilizing activities. Referred to as the ‘Mohajir Regiment’ in intelligence files, the unit consists of agents aged between 18 and 40, including both male and female members. A subset of these agents have received special training in making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and carrying out suicide attacks.”

With the claims of the Bangladeshi journalist, the fear that Pakistan is now planning to use Dhaka territory to launch terrorist attacks against India seems to have come true. Indian security agencies maintain top-level vigil on the Bangladesh border, but there are still many areas that are unguarded or prone to infiltration.
