Trevor Noah’s opening monologue had not even started when Australia’s own Tame Impala, aka Kevin Parker, took home a golden gramophone at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.
End of Summer’s victory in the best dance/electronic recording category was awarded during the pre-telecast Grammys ceremony, and is Parker’s second consecutive Grammy win after his victory in the same category last year for Neverender.
Meanwhile, Melbourne pub rock band Amyl and the Sniffers – who won album of the year during a total domination of the 2025 ARIA Awards – were nominated for best rock performance thanks to U Should Not Be Doing That but lost out to the late Ozzy Osbourne’s protege, Yungblud.
Sydney’s Rufus Du Sol’s album Inhale/Exhale also lost out in the best dance/electronic album category, while FKA Twigs emerged victorious with Eusexua.
Our hopes are now pinned on New Zealand-born, Melbourne-raised K-pop star Rosé‘s APT taking out song of the year and/or record of the year after her best pop duo/group performance loss to Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande’s Defying Gravity.
