A married man who was adopted at birth stunned his family and then the entire country when he left his wife to have sexual intercourse with his biological mother.
Kim West, now in her 50s, was a 19-year-old student in California when she gave birth to son Ben Ford. Unable to care for him, she gave him up for adoption before returning to the UK a week later.
More than thirty years passed without any contact between them.
But in 2013, Ben, who was married and living in Colorado, decided to search for her biological parents and successfully located Kim and sent her a letter.
What started as letters and phone calls quickly escalated, and by 2014, they decided to meet in person for a meeting that would change their lives forever.

Kim said: “(Victoria) was welcoming but I couldn’t warm up to her. I felt a growing sense of competition and became jealous when Ben touched her.”
“I became more aware of the fact that she thought I was spending too much time with Ben. She would call him constantly when we were together.
“He finally admitted that he felt sorry for her for spending time with me. He said, ‘He calls you mommy girlfriend.'”
A few days after the relationship started, Ben confessed everything. He left his marriage shortly after and moved in with Kim in Michigan.
Their relationship sparked outrage when it became public knowledge, especially since consensual incest between adults is a serious crime under Michigan law.
If convicted, the couple could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison and forced to register as sex offenders for life.
As media scrutiny intensified, Kim and Ben decided to step back from the public spotlight.
Despite harsh criticism, the couple maintained that their relationship was not technically incest.
