Cameron Munster’s deflection when asked about former Parramatta Eels star

Melbourne Storm star Cameron Munster says the club’s success in 2026 is not dependent on whether they sign Zac Lomax for next month’s NRL season opener.

Lomax’s former club Parramatta have taken legal action in the NSW Supreme Court to stop the star center signing a contract with the Storm after he was released to take part in last year’s postponed Rugby 360 competition.

To raise awareness on the issue, the Storm and Eels face each other at AAMI Park in the first round.

Munster, who never said “no comment” to the media, turned the question about the Storm securing Lomax into an ambush marketing opportunity for a bar he recently opened in Brisbane.

“I was briefed on this question, but I’m quite disappointed you didn’t ask me about my new bar in Brisbane,” Munster said with a smile.

“The bar is doing well, thanks for asking.

“I will leave this [the Lomax question] I tell the coaching staff and the owners, this is above my pay grade.

“If we get him, he will add great value to the club. There has been a lot of publicity around him. We are very confident, we are very comfortable with the squad we have at the moment and he would be a nice addition to that squad.”
