Chilling images show Jeffrey Epstein on stretcher moments after his death | World | News

Shocking new images of the moments after Jeffrey Epstein’s death by suicide in 2019 have been released. The images depict him on a stretcher surrounded by paramedics and were released as part of the FBI’s declassified report into his death in custody, titled “Jeffrey Epstein death investigation.”

The 66-year-old man was being held at New York’s Metropolitan Correctional Center on sex trafficking and conspiracy charges when he was found dead in a jail cell on August 10, 2019. Some of the newly released photos had a timestamp of 6:49 a.m.; that is, approximately 16 minutes after he was found unresponsive. It is unclear where they were taken, but Epstein was pronounced dead at the hospital at 6:39 in the morning.

Others show a close-up of his head with a visible injury to his neck. They all have his name, but it is sometimes misspelled as “Jeffery”.

The report also revealed that Epstein was placed on suicide watch after trying to kill himself on July 23 of that year.

But the sex trafficker accused his cellmate, former police officer Nicholas Tartaglione, of trying to kill him. Tartaglione was released the day before Epstein’s death.

The next day, Epstein told a psychologist that he “had no intention of killing myself” and that doing so would be “crazy,” according to the documents.

The psychologist added in his report that on July 25 he was “too competent to deal with my condition, I have a life and I want to get back to living my life.”

Another FBI report was released as part of the Epstein files, but it does not include the psychologist’s report or timeline of events, and the footage has been redacted.

No other information was given as to why both versions of the report were published.

The prison warden also said that Epstein should not be alone in his cell, stressing the need for “30-minute checks” and “unannounced visits.”

Documents show that guards did not carry out checks between 03.00 and 05.00 on the night of August 9 and that the camera system in the unit was faulty. Staff found the body when they came to check on him in the morning.
