Three days after preying on a calf, Tadoba tiger resorts to fresh kill near Rajamahendravaram city

The transient tiger resorted to killing fresh cattle on the outskirts of Rajamahendravaram city in the early hours of Thursday (February 5), three days after preying on a calf near Torredu on the banks of the Godavari river. In the new death reported near Punyakshertram area of Rajanagaram Mandal, a tiger killed two cattle.
Forest Officer Daveedu told Hindu: “The tiger was roaming around horticulture and oil palm plantations about five kilometers from Rajamahendravaram city on Thursday morning.” Mr. Daveedu is part of the tiger tracking team. Forest officials warned local people not to participate in farm work to avoid any negative effects. Schools remain closed in Rajamahendravaram Rural and Rajanagaram mandals in East Godavari district.
Rajamahendravaram City North Zone police have deployed police personnel to block all roads to prevent vehicular movement into the area where the tiger roams. Sound systems were arranged to warn all agricultural workers in the fields.
