Maruti Joins Hands with AP govt; To Set up 4 Automated Driving Test Tracks

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India on Friday said it has signed an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government for the installation and maintenance of four automated driving test tracks across the state. The tracks will be installed at four Regional Transport Office (RTO) locations in the state, namely Eluru, Ongole, Vizianagaram and Anakapalli.

As per the MoA, the automaker will automate and maintain these driving test tracks for a period of three years from the date of commissioning. “In line with its vision for technology-driven solutions, we are honored to bring 4 Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTT) to the state of Andhra Pradesh,” Maruti Suzuki India MD and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said in a statement. he said.

He added that ADTTs use advanced technology that ensures a comprehensive, efficient and transparent process with zero human intervention. This ensures that only qualified drivers are issued licenses, thus improving overall road safety, Takeuchi said.

“Automation of driving test tracks is expected to bring greater uniformity and objectivity in the testing process and ensure that driving licenses are issued only to candidates with requisite driving skills, thereby strengthening road safety in the state,” Andhra Pradesh Transport Commissioner Manish Kumar Sinha said. he said.

ADTTs in Eluru, Vizianagaram, Ongole and Anakapalli will cater to light motor vehicles and two-wheeler license applicants. The track in Ongole will also cater to Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMV) license applicants.
