Queen Elizabeth’s 1-word ‘reaction’ to Andrew’s Epstein links revealed | Royal | News

Queen Elizabeth has given her “full support” to the former royal after a photo emerged of him with Andrew following his conviction, showing Andrew over the shoulder of Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexual assault.

“We’re in this together,” Andrew told Epstein in an email the day after the second photo was published.

Now, in the latest release of US Government documents, an email between a close adviser and Epstein reveals what the late Queen thought about her son’s links to the convicted pedophile.

“He has his mother’s full support, only it was ‘unwise’ to mess with you,” David Stern wrote to Epstein, with quote marks implying that Mr. Stern was quoting views of Queen Elizabeth ITV

The interaction, which took place on March 9, 2011, came just three months after Andrew’s controversial Newsnight interview, in which he claimed he went to New York and stayed with Epstein to personally inform them that their friendship should end, adding that it was an “honorable” thing to do.

In 2019, the late Queen gave Andrew the authority to resign as an employed member of the firm, but Andrew retained his title of Prince and remained Duke of York. It was only in October 2025 that King Charles took the decision to strip him of his royal titles.

Even at a time when Andrew’s reputation was crumbling, Queen Elizabeth chose Andrew to walk with her to the memorial service for her husband Prince Philip at Westminster Abbey and convey the support between mother and son.

It is also widely understood that Queen Elizabeth privately financed Andrew’s reported £12 million payout to his accuser, the late Virginia Giuffre.

Mr. Stern also appeared to give Epstein updates on what was going on at the palace; these included the day after Queen Elizabeth’s Jubilee in 2012; The late Queen had chosen only five members of the Royal Family to stand by her side; these were Prince Charles and Camilla, Prince William and Kate, and Prince Harry.

Mr Stern wrote: “Great events with PA in the last few days. Very interesting as her mother only appeared with her oldest child and family. Times are changing as we expected”.
